‘The Film Black Friday’ Ohio Premiere Adds Fuel to the Economic Revolution Sweeping the Nation

Hundreds showed up for the Ohio Premiere of ‘The Film Black Friday’. The event centered around economic empowerment and included special guest panelists such as:

  • Dr. Boyce Watkins, founder of the Your Black World Network
  • Mr. John Crawford Jr., father of the slain John Crawford III
  • Michael Imhotep, African History Network
  • David Anderson, founder of Empowerment Radio Network
  • Brad Lewis & Ric Mathis, filmmakers of ‘The Film Black Friday’

People traveled to the King Arts Complex in Columbus from Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dayton, Toledo, Akron, Youngstown and beyond. A dynamic interactive panel discussion and vendor marketplace followed the movie screening.

Folks in Ohio are joining in the economic revolution and call-to-action to redirect our money toward Black businesses. Money is power. African-Americans spend an estimated 2-3% of their money with each other. If we expect to see real and sustainable change, it will only come with increased support of our own businesses. In the midst of social injustice, mass incarceration, the school to prison pipeline, joblessness, and poverty, we must solidify the strength of countless community activists and organizers with economic empowerment.
