Julialynne Walker, J.D., Director of Africa and Diaspora Development Linkages, received the Oni Award at the 29th Annual International Black Women’s Conference held in Atlanta, Georgia, September 25-27, 2013. Presented by Willa M. Hemmons, Ph.D., Esq., IBWC Vice President, of Cleveland, Ohio, The Oni Award is presented to a woman “who protects, defends and enhances the general well-being of African people.”
“Economic Healing for Black Women: A Journey Towards Financial Wellness” was the theme of the conference and Ms Walker’s presentation on “Obstacles to Entrepreneurship – Social Media and the Sisters” was well received, as noted by LaFrancis Rodgers-Rose, Ph.D., Founder and President Emeritus, who also stressed the organization’s commitment to “an African centered view of socioeconomic development.”
Ms. Walker will be the keynote speaker at the BOLD: Healthy Families Forum at the Frank Hale Center of The Ohio State University on Saturday, October 12, 2013. This event is free and open to the public.
