Seattle Seahawks star running back Marshawn Lynch truly perplexes and confuses many in mainstream media. While fearlessly wearing two African medallions and beads, the Oakland native gave ‘shout outs’ to his city and said “What’s up African. Shout out to my real Africans out there.” during a pre-Superbowl interview. He sported his own clothing line “Beastmode” which the NFL issued a $20,000 fine. In the past, Lynch has been repeatedly fined by the NFL for refusing to speak to the media. Unlike journalists, millions enjoy Lynch’s muted responses because they symbolize rebelling against the system, defiance and outright refusal to be controlled.
