Cleveland police continue to display the mentality of a department and city leadership that are working diligently to justify the killing of an innocent child by its officers. It is difficult for many to understand how it is justified to kill a child based on a 9-1-1 call without assessing the situation first. The family of Tamir Rice has called for the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor, Democrat Tim McGinty, to step aside and allow a special prosecutor to take the case. CLICK HERE TO SIGN THE PETITION

When a diverse group of citizens took their “Justice for Tamir” protest into a Cleveland City Council meeting, one of the members of that group was Dominique Knox, a 23- year-old black man (2nd from the right in this photo). The officers that initially detained him were black. It’s hard not to recognize the self-hate and hard to imagine that these officers would have done the same thing to ANY of the other protesters present. Knox was the only young black male in the group.

When questioned about why they singled Knox out, police stated that he was the “main instigator.” As you can see from the photo, just before he was dragged over the man next to him by police, he was quite peaceful. An officer told protesters that were advocating for Knox to be released that he was detained because he ignored the officer that told him to be quiet.

It is important to note that the Cleveland City Council does not have a mechanism in place for constituents to formally address City Council.

Knox was detained for 24 hours and then released. According to his attorney, who was provided by the Cleveland NAACP, all charges were dropped.
