Standing in solidarity with Black students and Black student organizations, thirty-two (32) University of Missouri black football players have unequivocally stated that they will not play until the president of the university resigns or is removed. “The athletes of color on the University of Missouri football team truly believe ‘Injustice Anywhere is a threat to Justice Everywhere’ We will no longer participate in any football related activities until President Tim Wolfe resigns or is removed due to his negligence toward marginalized students’ experiences. WE ARE UNITED!!!!!”

The players refusal to play is in reaction to inadequate responses to racial incidents and the overall lack of support for African-American students  on campus. A hunger strike, started on November 2nd by their black classmate, Jonathan Butler, with a letter to the university sparked the protest. Many around the nation have been showing support for the students and view their stance as a courageous act.
